Aadhaar Notification for Scholarship: The Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has issued an important notification regarding the mandatory possession of Aadhaar number and Aadhaar authentication for students applying for scholarship schemes through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

The notification, issued under Section 7 of the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016, makes Aadhaar ID compulsory for availing benefits of all centrally sponsored scholarships.

This applies to all eligible students studying in Government and Private schools across Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

📌 Scholarship Schemes for Which Aadhaar Is Mandatory

According to JKBOSE, students must possess a valid Aadhaar number to apply for or continue receiving benefits under the following schemes:

1. National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS)

For meritorious students from economically weaker sections.

2. Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Protsahan (PM-USP) – Yojana

Includes two sub-schemes:

• Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College & University Students (PM-USP CSSS)
• PM-USP scholarships for higher education

3. All Centrally Sponsored Scholarships through NSP

Aadhaar authentication is mandatory for accessing or renewing any such scholarship.

🆕 Mandatory Aadhaar for OTR Registration

The notification further highlights that Aadhaar is required to generate the One-Time Registration (OTR) number on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) — essential for applying to any scholarship scheme.

This makes Aadhaar the primary digital identity for scholarship verification and application processes.

📢 Purpose of the Notification

The order has been circulated to all concerned authorities, including:

• DIETs, CEOs, ZEOs
• School heads
• Educational Survey Division NCERT
• Officials of Ministry of Education
• ITSS and administrative wings of JKBOSE

The aim is to spread awareness and ensure large-scale participation of eligible students, particularly in NMMSS examinations and other central schemes.
